It has caused controversy for many years, however, it's been around for over 3,000 years. Didn't know that did you?
The Swastika was acutally used majorly by the Hindus and Buddists to represent Peace, Prosperity, and Life.
Most People Never learn this their Entire
lives.
Something many don't know, however, is that the Swastika originated....on a Sun Calender, it was desgined because of the percived flow of the sun thousands of years ago.
Moving on.
Why is that? Well as you know in the 1930's Adolf Hitler...who had in fact been around for many years in the political scene began rising to power, posing as an Intelligent, Understanding, Problem Solving leader. His symbol? The Swastika. People at the time knew the acutal meaning of the symbol, so it was seen as an Extremely positive symbol and gesture. Even if he didn't mean it for any other reason than because he liked it.
For Example, maybe you love Hockey, maybe you don't, but in the early 1900's Canada had a Male and Female team, both called the swastikas....
Yea..Whoa, take a minute and let that sink in.Right now you're sitting there accepting that there were teams with the Swastika as their symbol but if you saw someone wearing one tommorrow you automaticly think: Nazi, Skin head, and so on. Why? Because that's the society you grew up in Post WWII.
While that sinks in there's one little more piece of information that ties both Hitler and the Hindus together. The oriental interpertation of the Swastika was this...the Right Flowing Swastika meant life and good, While the Left flowing one meant death and bad.

BadYes yes i know, the Canadian teams and the other swastikas are mostly Bad Swastikas, but i said the Oriental thought that...not anyone else.
One final fact on the Reign of Hitler, which is really intersting. The orignal drawer/artist (Dr. Freidrich Krohn) of Hitler's beloved symbol...drew it, to the Right,( making it a Good symbol by oriental belief), the reason? He was right-handed, Hitler after recieveing the Image demanded it be changed to the Left-handed version(b/c he was left handed)...then killed millions, allowing us to safely deduce....Left-Handed people, Are Evil, and must be stopped. And as Bush would say...'They, are apart, of the Axis of Evil, and we will not stop until every left-hander is stopped, killed, or captured.' then he'd make a fund to open reabilitation centers for left-handed people.
Come on...you didn't think I'd write all this without a bit of humor thrown in did you?
